We collect as little as possible. Here’s what we do collect, and why, in plain words.
Who we are
Hector (sole proprietorship), Hasselt (Belgium), company number BE 1043.188.181, is responsible for processing your data through this website. You can reach us at yunot@hector-studio.be or +32 456 95 02 22.
Contacting us
The contact form on this site sends nothing to our servers. It opens your own email program with your message filled in. Only when you send that email do we receive your name, company, email address, your phone number if you add it, and your question. The same goes if you email or call us directly.
We use that data to answer your question (our legitimate interest, or a step towards an agreement) and, if we work together, to carry out and invoice the project (performance of the agreement and our legal accounting obligations). We don’t send you newsletters or advertising unless you ask for it yourself.
Visitor statistics
Only if you give your consent in the cookie notice do we use Google Analytics 4 to see visitor numbers and popular pages, as totals and never per person. Google Analytics doesn’t store IP addresses; advertising features and Google Signals are switched off. You can withdraw your consent at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. All details are on the cookie page.
The potential test
When you enter a website, our own server fetches the public page. If that fails, we try through an external reading service (allorigins.win or r.jina.ai). For the visual assessment, a screenshot service (Microlink or thum.io) takes an image of that page, and the images and text go to Google Gemini, which assesses the site. If you paste a text yourself, only that text goes to Gemini. So the address or text you enter goes to those services; with the free version of Gemini, Google may use that data to improve its services. Please don’t enter personal data or confidential text. We store nothing from the test.
Hosting and security
The site runs on Vercel Inc. Like any web server, Vercel keeps short server logs for technical and security reasons (including IP address, time and requested page); that is our legitimate interest in a secure, working site. The connection is always encrypted (HTTPS). The typeface is hosted on our own server, so nothing goes to Google for that.
How long we keep it
We keep emails and contact details as long as needed for our contact or project, and invoices as long as the law requires (10 years in Belgium). We keep Google Analytics statistics for at most 14 months. Your cookie choice stays on your device for 6 months.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data and don’t share it for marketing. We only work with service providers who process it for us: Google (email through Google Workspace, and Analytics if you allow it) and Vercel (hosting). As the law requires, invoices go to whoever does our accounting and to the authorities when they ask for them. Some of these services may process data outside the European Union; that then happens under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can always ask which data we have about you, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object, or ask for a copy to take with you. Consent you gave can always be withdrawn. Send an email to yunot@hector-studio.be and we’ll answer within a month. Not satisfied? You can file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels.
